Community Development
Background
Due to lack of adequate livelihood opportunities in some of the aspirational parts of rural India, unskilled and semi-skilled individuals migrate to Delhi to earn a living.
After migrating to Delhi, they live in slums and resettlement colonies of Delhi where it is very common to see that even basic amenities are inadequate. In such circumstances, they navigate the city not through a lens of choice but rebuilding their lives and their choices brick-by-brick.
They work as informal workers and the informal nature of work often puts them in a vulnerable position.
Our Intervention
To cater to the needs of construction and domestic workers, Kislay engages with the communities, and support them navigating the complex nature of their work. Through workshops and skill-building trainings, Kislay builds a confidence among them so they improve their employement conditions at workplace. Workers have various needs including occupational safety and health, fair wages, and social protection.
Kislay works alongside the communities and try building an enabling policy-environment.
Women Empowerment
Kislay works alongside women workers and their families to ensure that they lead their lives with agency.
Background
Due to limited household income, women start supporting their family, and domestic help provides them the opportunity. They work as domestic workers while managing their own household responsibilites. In such a scenario, their health and well-being takes the back seat.
Our Intervention
Kislay provides women with a space where they reflect on their sense of self-worth that often gets overlooked due to responsibilities. We support them in reflecting on the importance of their well-being, communicating their needs both at the household level and workplace.
