as a Construction Worker<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-168ad10 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"168ad10\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">Parvati, 39, is a construction worker from Shiv Vihar J. J. Colony, Delhi. Migrated from Madhya Pradesh, she became the primary earner in her family after her husband suffered a serious worksite injury.<\/p><p>Parvati joined Kislay\u2019s community collective in 2011. Through regular meetings and learning activities, she gradually gained confidence in understanding and communicating her needs at work.<\/p><p>Earlier, she followed work instructions and rarely asked for her basic needs at workplace. Today, she discusses wages before accepting work, expects timely payments and ensures that her attendance and wages are recorded. She has also registered with the BOCW Welfare Board and accessed financial assistance during a period when construction work was restricted.<\/p><p>Reflecting on her journey, Parvati says:<\/p><blockquote><p>\u201cEarlier, I never spoke to anyone. I couldn\u2019t even ask for basic needs like drinking water or taking a break.
